Andrey Kuzmenko Announces Signing with Vancouver Canucks via Instagram
Russian forward Andrey Kuzmenko has officially announced his signing with the Vancouver Canucks through a post on Instagram, marking a significant moment in his professional hockey career. The highly sought-after free agent shared the news with his followers, expressing excitement about joining the NHL team and starting a new chapter in North America.
Kuzmenko, 26, was one of the most coveted undrafted players available this offseason after an impressive career in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). His strong offensive output and playmaking ability caught the attention of several NHL teams, but after meeting with multiple organizations, he ultimately chose Vancouver.
In his Instagram post, Kuzmenko thanked his fans, family, and former team SKA St. Petersburg for their support throughout his career. He also shared photos of himself in Canucks gear, smiling and shaking hands with team executives. “I’m happy to join the Vancouver Canucks family,” he wrote. “Thank you to everyone who believed in me. I can’t wait to get started.”
The Canucks have been actively pursuing young talent as they look to strengthen their forward group and build a competitive roster. Kuzmenko’s arrival is seen as a promising addition, especially given his recent performance in the KHL, where he posted 53 points in 45 games during the 2021–22 season.
Vancouver general manager Patrik Allvin praised the signing, stating that Kuzmenko brings a dynamic offensive skill set and a strong hockey IQ. “We believe Andrey has the potential to make an immediate impact in the NHL,” Allvin said. “His vision, skating, and ability to create plays make him a valuable addition to our team.”
Kuzmenko is expected to join the Canucks for training camp ahead of the upcoming NHL season. While transitioning to the NHL can be a challenge for KHL players, Vancouver is confident in his ability to adapt quickly and contribute at a high level.
With this signing, the Canucks continue to reshape their roster under the leadership of head coach Rick Tocchet and the front office. Fans are hopeful that Kuzmenko’s arrival will add firepower to the team’s offense and help propel the Canucks back into playoff contention.
